Elon Musk has in his target crosshairs the administration of Joe Biden that runs his country, along with one of the country’s oldest automobile conglomerates, General Motors. This has happened because Joe Biden has been cozying up to GM and actively helping them in their drive for electrification at the expense of Tesla, a company that has already more or less perfected the art to become the US’s largest and most successful electric car manufacturer. Elon Musk took personal issue with this on Twitter and has taken to direct verbal attacks against Biden’s socio-economic policies and General Motors, making particular fun out of the latter’s inability to sell more than 26 electric vehicles in 2021. Musk has had a long history of clashing with authority, including the dreaded Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), despite needing them often. The main reasons for Biden’s favoring of GM appear to be their union-friendly attitude and Tesla’s union-unfriendly attitude. We also know that GM has recently announced an ambitious plan for EV dominance in the 2020s, and the electric Hummer revival has been doing better than expected in sales. Tesla will have to reorganize against this viable threat.
